For this week’s theme, I decided we needed to go get a cold treat – shave ice! My first job ever, at the ripe old age of 14, was at a shave ice stand called Island Snow. I worked there with my BFF making shave ice, and selling t-shirts and stickers with the Island Snow logo. The place was tiny. Just big enough to fit 2-3 people behind the counter with little room to move around. I think we made $4.75 an hour. (Yikes, does that tell you how old I am?
) But as long as we had our little radio we were happy. We made so many great memories. And we still think we had the best shave ice there ever was.

Thanks for stopping by. Now head on over to Cullman, AL photographer Rachel McPhillips‘s blog to see her take on this week’s theme.
